Who gets through which door

At Caesars Windsor the age line changes by door and by card: 19 for the casino, 21 for Caesars Rewards. The checker on this page sorts the lines for one visitor at a time.

The Ontario rule

Ontario's Gaming Control Act, 1992 sets the line in section 2(3). No one under 19 may enter or remain in a gaming site. The one exception is a person there in the course of employment. That means staff, not guests.

In Ontario a person must be 19 or older to visit casinos and slot facilities. Online casino gaming and online sports betting carry the same line. The word remain matters: the rule applies for the whole visit, not only at the entrance.

The casino floor at Caesars Windsor and its related outlets are 19+. Two outlets are tagged 19 and up by name. Legends Sports Bar, an American sports bar, is one of them. So is the Tim Hortons, open 24 hours.

All ages are welcome in the 27-storey Augustus Tower and in the convention complex. The indoor pool, open year-round, is for adults only. Children can stay in the tower but cannot use the pool or step onto the casino floor.

    Proof of age

Caesars Windsor names one form of proof of age: valid government-issued photo ID. It is needed to get a Caesars Rewards card and to redeem Reward Credits. Management decides which ID is acceptable.

This guide does not list accepted documents, and it does not guess at them. Border documents are a separate matter, set by the CBSA and CBP. A visitor unsure about a particular piece of ID can call the casino at 1-800-991-7777 or 519-258-7878 before the trip.

    The rewards card

Caesars Rewards has a higher line than the floor: a person must be 21 or older to enrol. A visitor who is 19 but not yet 21 can enter the casino but cannot enrol. The door and the card use different ages. Getting the card and redeeming Reward Credits both call for valid government-issued photo ID.

Over 55 hotels and casinos take the card: members earn rewards there by playing, dining and shopping, and spend them the same way. Sign-up is online at caesars.com/program. The regional tourism board says Caesars Windsor is the only property in Canada with Caesars Rewards.

    Turned away at the door

Some adults are turned away whatever their age. People who are trespassed or self-excluded cannot attend Caesars Windsor or its outlets.

My PlayBreak, OLG's self-exclusion program, reaches further. A casino break lasts 3 or 6 months or 1 to 5 years and bars entry to every Ontario casino. The term cannot be changed once chosen, so the bar holds for the whole term. Enrolment runs through the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098, a staff member at a casino, or a PlaySmart Centre.
